Shopify support and maintenance
Shopify runs the platform, but the theme, apps and access are yours. I take that over on an ongoing basis: updates, bugs, small changes and new features, built in a copy of the theme and live only after your approval.
Who it is for
- Stores with a customised theme, where an update can wipe out custom solutions.
- Stores where promotions, markets or features keep being added.
- Teams where nobody has time to keep an eye on apps and access.
What I take care of
- Theme updates. New theme versions go into a copy first, custom code is backed up and carried over, then checked and published.
- Bug fixes. Finding and fixing problems in the storefront without disturbing sales.
- Apps and access. Review installed apps and their permissions, remove unused ones, give people limited access instead of the owner login.
- New features. Small additions to the storefront, in separate steps that can each be checked on the live store.
- Search and merchandising tools. Look after integrations such as Searchspring and develop them further, including tracking.
How it works
- 01First call. 30 minutes on your store, theme, apps and what comes up regularly.
- 02Fixed-price quote. After the briefing you get a written quote that says what is included.
- 03Theme review. I look at the theme and apps first and tell you what stands out.
- 04Work in small steps. Every change is made in a copy of the theme and goes live only after your approval.
Questions
- Do I need a support contract?
- Not necessarily. If you rarely change anything, a fixed routine is enough. Support pays off with customised code, frequent changes, or when a checkout outage would cost real revenue.
- Will I lose customisations in a theme update?
- According to Shopify's help, edits made in the theme editor carry over to the new version. Code changes can be lost, which is why I apply updates in a copy and carry the code over.
- What access do you need?
- A staff or collaborator account with limited permissions, not your owner login. It ends when we stop working together.
- What does support cost?
- It depends on the scope. After the first call you get a written quote.
